This is London

Ello Ladies and Gents

The time has arrived for the first day of pictures:) We started off our journey at the British museum which consisted of works such as the Parthenon marbles, Rosetta stone, and african war gear.

These although amazing are not the pictures I am going to show you. After we left the museum, quite abruptly I might add, we ventured on over to the Burrow Market. This was amazing! Imagine the cutest market filled with yummy pastries and disgusting british food.

We have decided that British food is basically food people would eat in the medieval ages. No I do not want a weird looking pie filled with sick meat. Goodness, I'm so glad I live in America where I can go on over to the local Del and pick up a soft taco, which I want so badly right now.
Although the food was gross, the treats were amazing!
Giant Meringue which is basically a hard whip cream:) yumyum

Cheese cakes and pastries! So good:)

All of the treats looked like art. Except for the no sugar added chocolate. That was just disgusting.

After our feet hurt we returned home for a bit where of course I fell asleep. Jet lag is real people and I would stay away from any bed with a down comforter. Once nap time was over we hope to face the rain and visit jolly old big ben and his neighbor the London eye. We made it about an hour. It's just too cold and rainy for pictures. Here are my two attempts at photography during a rain and windstorm.
So the hair has just gotten curlier and curlier which means as the wind blows it every time I glance towards a window my hair seems to have doubled its size. My hair has literally gained a mind of its own and I have given up. From this point on you will notice it up because well it's just easier to do.
This is the beautiful bridge by parlament. Full of scary men in masks but beautiful architecture.

There my friends is your first glimpse of London, England.

Love Always,
GG

Smelly Cat

So I know you all were expecting this photo bomb of the adventures of London but, that will have to wait. This rant is pressing and needs to be expressed. Our flat, as the british say, is right next to Hyde Park.

It is extremely nice and almost everyone who lives here owns a 500,000 dollar car. As I walked into our flat and saw how nice it was I was ecstatic to say the least. This seemed too good to be true and of course it was.

As we creeped open the door to our room a gust of wind paralyzes us all.

The smell that radiated from our room is a mix of fish, dirty sand, molding walls, and lastly a smelly shoe. Basically our room smells like a Phoebe's cat in friends. This smell happens to be only in our room. Of course everyone else's room smells like freaking daisies. The next part of this story has been the running joke for the now three days that I have been here. After we filed a complaint, the next morning a cute little Italian maintenance man came in to inspect our bathroom. "Oh I come in and check smell," all of us in our beds stare at him with glazed vision. "mmm no smell I come back later."He marches out and that was the last we saw of our cute little Italian man.

So yes maintenance man, it does smell and if I wasn't so tired from jet lag(which is the worst) then I would have forced him to smell the hallway and then smell my room. As I have now spent three days in this smelly room I find it growing on me.
It's almost endearing.

As Phoebe once sang "Smelly cat smelly cat it's not your fault." This is how I regard my poor little room. Hopefully I don't die of black mold or some other kind of toxic smell. Wish me luck!

I hope to finish editing some of my photos and upload them tomorrow!!!!!!

Hoping for the best,

GG

Bon Voyage

This is officially my first blog post ever. In order for you to understand why I am blogging I must start where every good story starts, at the beginning. Ever since I was little and I heard my first french word I fell in love. I found this beautiful language full of culture, fashion, and cuisine. I knew that I had to go to this place. As Gertrude Stein once wrote, "America is my country and Paris is my hometown." I not only wanted Paris, I needed it. Noticing my fondness for the french language, my dad said he would take me to France if I took all four years of French. I took all four years of French and instead of my Dad taking me, I'm taking myself. After hearing about my sister's amazing experience with the UVU Italy Art History Study Abroad. I found out that I could live my dream and go to France while still seeing England and Belgium. The new European Art History and Photography study abroad visits all of these places. I will be there from May 8th-June 5th. A few of us from the group will be staying late and going to Italia!!! I promise to update you all(so far my only follower is my sister) on my experiences and the amazing sights and knowledge I learn as I live in these amazing places. As an English Major I can't help but review a few books I read on the way. I can't wait for you to take this journey with me!
With Love,
GG
